Celebrating Black History Month By Improving Diversity Hiring

Written by Team Talview | Feb 5, '2020

This month, we’re celebrating Black History Month to commemorate the achievements of black Americans throughout history and today. As we celebrate, we must take a look at our own organizations to see how we can improve our hiring processes, diversity strategies, and cultures to better support our black friends and colleagues. This isn’t just the right thing to do. It’s also more profitable.

In 2018, McKinsey & Company updated their Delivering through Diversity research which showed diverse teams increased the likelihood of EBIT margins outperformance by 33%. This is huge. More recently, Goldman Sach’s announced they will no longer support IPOs of all white, male boards. And, Bloomberg reported that hedge funds led by people who were not white men outperformed by nearly 2 to 1. The research to support increasing diversity is staggering.

But diversity isn’t enough. We need to do a better job at paying equitably, promoting, and including our black colleagues in our organizations. Diversity and inclusion strategists and career coaches speak, write books (like Minda Harts’ The Memo), and help organizations improve diversity hiring and culture strategies.

Later this month, we’re thrilled to feature a webinar to help you enhance your diversity strategies in our upcoming Real Techniques to Improve Diversity Hiring: Secrets from Diversity Hiring and Recruiting Experts.

The February 27th webinar will feature two talent acquisition and diversity strategy experts, Keirsten Greggs and Torin Ellis.

Keirsten is the Founder and CEO of TRAP Recruiter, a small business committed to bridging the gap between the job seeker and organizations devoted to attracting, hiring, developing and retaining diverse talent and fostering inclusive equitable cultures. Torin is the Founder and CEO at Torin Ellis. He’s a passionate practitioner committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. He is a Diversity Strategist, Published Author, and workplace issues Host of Career Mix on SiriusXM where he discusses challenges and progress regarding career progression, diversity, and disruption. He’s consulted on DEI with some of the world’s leading brands.

During this live event, Keirsten and Torin will come together to discuss real strategies they use to improve diversity hiring. They will share everything from how to empower recruiting and hiring teams, strategic exploration, as well as tactical execution to help you reevaluate, reset, and rebuild your hiring processes.

If like most organizations, you’re struggling to attract, source, and hire diverse employees, this is one webinar you won’t want to miss. Join us February 27th at 1 to 2pm EST to learn more.
